The recording feature allows users to effortlessly log their rides. Upon completion, trails can be stored locally and shared either via email with friends or through the public database on the Horsetrails web platform, fostering a sense of community among horseback riders. The mapping capabilities are notable, featuring free open-source maps sourced from OpenStreetMap and complimentary digital elevation data that aids in assessing terrain profiles along each trail. In contrast to many other mapping applications, once downloaded, these maps can be accessed without any internet connection.

Users can easily view vital trail information such as time, distance, and elevation before embarking on their journey. This data is conveniently displayed in both the application’s top bar and bottom elevation profile.

The app also serves as a trail-sharing platform where users can create a free account to explore trails shared by fellow riders and contribute their own favorites. Interaction is encouraged through the ability to rate and comment on trails, creating an engaging community experience.

A unique feature allows users to capture photographs at points of interest along their rides and geotag these images for easy reference later.
